Giancarlo Anello is an Associate Professor of Intercultural Law & Economics & Anthropology and Institutions of Islam at the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries (DUSIC), University of Parma, Italy. He is also a practicing lawyer.
Education: He studied law in Palermo and Rome, and Arabic in Damascus, Nizwa, Tunis, and Amman, reflecting his interdisciplinary focus on legal systems and cultural studies. His research spans intercultural law, Islamic legal history, colonial legal systems, and multicultural jurisprudence.
Teaching: He teaches courses such as Global Food Law: Sustainability Challenges and Innovation, Religious Laws & Intercultural Mediation, and Philosophy of Law. His academic activities include organizing workshops on legal pluralism, corporate law, and religious diplomacy.
Research Interests: Focuses on legal pluralism, colonial legal history, Islamic legal reforms, and the intersection of law and cultural identity. His recent work explores topics like interfaith dialogue, corporate legal personhood, and food justice from a religious perspective.
