Dr. Gian Pagnucci is a Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). He holds the prestigious 2009–10 Distinguished University Professor Award and has received multiple teaching accolades, including the 2008 International Conference on College Teaching and Learning Award and the 1999 IUP Teaching Excellence Award. His work focuses on integrating technology into pedagogy, particularly in writing instruction.
Education: Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin. Before academia, he worked as a professional technical writer.
Research and Publications: Authored three books, including Re-Mapping Narrative and Living the Narrative Life, and over 16 articles/book chapters on digital-age writing pedagogy. His creative nonfiction explores Italian-American childhood, such as Moscatello Wine and The Italian Dentist.
Professional Contributions: Directed/co-directed major conferences like the Pennsylvania Statewide English Conference (2001) and organized workshops on digital pedagogy. Has advised 25 doctoral students and reviewed over 50 dissertations.
Current Projects: Leading the Digital English Teaching Project to study digital English instruction practices nationally, aiming to produce a book on social media-driven pedagogy.
