Daniel J. Weinstein serves as Associate Professor of English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), where he directs the BA English Program and co-directs the Center for Digital Humanities and Culture. He is affiliated with the Language, Literature, and Writing Department within the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs.
Dr. Weinstein's academic background includes a PhD in English Literature with Concentration in Composition Theory from University at Buffalo, State University of New York, along with an MA from the same institution and a BA with Honors in English from Wesleyan University. His research focuses on the intersection of educational technology and the psychology of creativity, exploring how digital tools can enhance students' creative growth and learning.
A pioneer in online writing instruction, he designed and taught the first online English Composition course at University of Buffalo in 1996. His teaching philosophy views writing as a multidimensional practice integrating self-regulation, creativity, literary craft, critical analysis, and situational awareness. His course specialties span composition, literature, and digital writing courses including ENGL 101, 121, 202, 212, 220, 360, and 421.
Since 2013, Dr. Weinstein has served as a Website Manager for the Language, Literature, and Writing Department, working alongside Dr. Christina Huhn to maintain and improve the department's online presence according to campus standards.
