Getahun Yacob Abraham

Getahun Yacob Abraham is a researcher at the Department of Educational Work within the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT at the University of Borås. He coordinates the Master's program in Pedagogical Work (distance education) and holds a PhD in Pedagogy from the University of Gothenburg (2010).

• Educational Background: B.A. in Sociology (Addis Ababa University, 1984), MSc in Social Work (University of Gothenburg, 1993), MSc in Sociology (University of Gothenburg, 2004), PhD in Pedagogy (University of Gothenburg, 2010).

His research explores democracy in education, interculturality, social justice, migration, and societal issues through critical pedagogy, postcolonialism, and Indigenous Knowledge Systems. He has collaborated internationally via ECER Network 7, SANORD, and coordinated cross-border internships for Nordic teacher students.

In teaching, he focuses on research methods, theory of science, learning theories, and human rights frameworks. He has supervised and examined courses, and worked with Ethiopian refugee projects, Swedish municipalities, and international organizations like Save the Children/UNHCR.
