معرفی
Gerd Faltings is a renowned mathematician known for his groundbreaking work in arithmetic geometry. He studied mathematics and physics at the University of Münster, later becoming a professor there in 1981. He served as a professor at Wuppertal University and Princeton University (as a full professor from 1985). From 1994 until his retirement in 2023, he was a director at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn. His research focuses on number theory and algebraic geometry, including proofs of the Tate conjecture, Shafarevich conjecture, and Mordell conjecture.
He holds memberships in prestigious academies: Düsseldorf, Göttingen, Berlin and Halle, the European Academy, the Royal Society (London), and the National Academy of Sciences (Washington). His accolades include the Fields Medal (1986), Leibniz Prize (1996), and multiple other international prizes.
