Gerardo Iniguez Gonzalez is an Associate Professor at Tampere University's Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences (Finland), leading the Tampere Complexity Lab and the MSc in Data Science program. He holds visiting professor roles at Central European University (Austria), Aalto University (Finland), and UNAM's Center of Complexity Science (Mexico). His research focuses on complex systems, network science, computational social science, and data science, with emphasis on social contagion, opinion dynamics, and societal structure formation.
Education includes a PhD in Physics and postdoctoral experience in network science. Industry engagement includes co-founding Predify, a data science consulting firm. He is an Associate Editor at Advances in Complex Systems and Frontiers, and contributes to initiatives like the European Humane AI Net project.
Research highlights include uncovering universal patterns in communication networks, modeling rank dynamics in complex systems, and analyzing cumulative effects of network formation mechanisms. His work bridges theoretical models with large-scale data from social platforms, urban systems, and collaborative environments.
Key contributions include frameworks for urban policy optimization, game-based experiments on social behavior, and software tools like Farranks for rank dynamics analysis. He actively disseminates findings through conferences, media engagement, and open-source code repositories.
