Gerard Wiegers is a Full Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Amsterdam since 2009. He previously held positions at Radboud University Nijmegen (2004–2009) as Professor of Comparative Religion and Islamic Studies, and at Leiden University (1996–2004) as Lecturer in the Comparative Study of Religions and Islamic Studies. He was also a Research Fellow at the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (1991–1996).
