Gerard Magill holds the Vernon F. Gallagher Chair for the Integration of Science, Theology, Philosophy and Law at Duquesne University, where he is a tenured Professor in the Center for Healthcare Ethics. He teaches courses on ethics in the doctoral program and leads clinical ethics rotations.
His research spans governance ethics, organizational ethics, clinical ethics, research ethics, data ethics, human genomics, patient safety, and vascularized composite allotransplantation (e.g., face and limb transplants). He has authored/edited 14 books and published over 80 scholarly articles.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Theological Ethics from Edinburgh University (1987), and multiple degrees from Gregorian University in Rome: S.T.L. (Moral Theology, 1976), S.T.B. (Theology, 1974), and Ph.B. (Philosophy, 1971).
