Gerard Looker is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Employment Relations at the Leeds University Business School, part of the University of Leeds' Faculty of Social Sciences. He holds a PhD in Industrial Relations from De Montfort University (2015), an MA in Comparative Labour Studies from the University of Warwick (1999), and a BSc in Social Sciences from the Open University (1995). His professional background includes roles as a Senior Negotiator and Organiser for major UK trade unions, and he currently serves on the Employment Tribunal for Central East. His research focuses on trade union bureaucracy, union renewal, and their intersections with employment and industrial relations. He is developing a paper examining the impact of public service reorganisation on public sector unionism.
