Gerard Cramer

Gerard Cramer, DVM, DVSc is a Professor in the Department of Veterinary Population Medicine (VPM) at the University of Minnesota, affiliated with the Fetrow Dairy Education Center. His research focuses on dairy cattle health, particularly lameness, hoof disorders, and metabolic diseases.

• Hoof health and lameness prevention
• Hyperketonemia and metabolic profiling
• Digital dermatitis and infectious hoof diseases
• Animal behavior and productivity metrics
• Precision livestock farming tools

Recent Publications emphasize camera-based monitoring systems, hoof trimming efficacy, and metabolic disorder impacts on reproduction. He contributes to international standards via the ICAR Claw Health Atlas initiative.
