Geraldine Maurer

Geraldine Maurer is an Assistant Professor in the Health Promotion & Development Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She serves as clinical faculty for NUR: 1050 Nursing Care of Mothers and Infants, teaches OB lectures and guest lectures on Evidence Based Practice (EBP), and contributes to continuing education initiatives. Her clinical emphasis spans maternal/child and perinatal obstetric nursing, administration, and education.

Research & Service

She acted as Principal Investigator for a capstone project focused on EBP implementation at Magee Womens Hospital, including staff surveys and strategic planning for a hospital-wide EBP council. She has participated in maternal/obstetrical research across topics like smoking cessation in pregnancy, diabetes and exercise during pregnancy, and urinary tract infections' impact on premature labor. She is a member of Magee Womens Hospital's multi-disciplinary Research Review Committee.

Leadership & Publications

Maurer has held leadership roles at Magee Womens Hospital, progressing from Staff Nurse to Director of Inpatient Obstetrics. She developed hospital policies, opened the Breast Center, and contributed to international projects in Moscow. She has published articles on clinical, management/administration, and education topics, including her capstone work on EBP.
