Dr Geraldine Lane is an Ongoing Sessional Fellow and Research Fellow in the School of Education at Curtin University, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and the Office of the Provost. She specializes in teaching and research across education, disability studies, and applied gerontology. Her work emphasizes online learning, formative assessment, and inclusive education strategies for students with diverse abilities.
Education:
- PhD in Health Science (Flinders University)
- MEd, MPallCare, MDisSt, MAppGeront, GradDip Tertiary Teaching, GradCert DisSt, GradCert Ed, BEd
- Registered Nurse (RN)
Research Interests: Online learning methodologies, formative assessment practices, mentoring in higher education, health benefits of assistive technologies (e.g., guide dogs), and applied gerontology. Her PhD explored the health impacts of dog guides for visually impaired individuals.

Teaching & Supervision: Teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in special education, childhood development, and inclusive pedagogy. Supervises PhD and Master’s research students. Previously co-founded the Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired (CAVI), delivering global IT education to visually impaired learners.
