Geraldina Signa is an Assistant Professor in Ecology at the Department of Earth and Marine Sciences (DiSTeM), University of Palermo (Italy). She holds a PhD in Ecology (2011, University of Parma) and has been a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at both DiSTeM and CONISMA, focusing on biochemical tracers like stable isotopes and fatty acids for studying coastal marine ecosystems.
- Graduated in Biology (2003, University of Palermo)
- MSc in Marine Resource Management (2004, University of Padua)
- PhD in Ecology (2011, University of Parma)
Her research spans anthropogenic impacts (eutrophication, contamination, climate change) on marine systems, with emphasis on ecosystem restoration and sustainable aquaculture. She has published extensively on topics ranging from Posidonia oceanica transplantation to seabird guano effects, using multidisciplinary approaches involving UAV photogrammetry, isotopic analysis, and invasive species dynamics.
Current teaching includes General and Applied Ecology and Vulnerability of Natural Systems, with a history of Applied Ecology instruction since 2011. Her work integrates environmental monitoring, nutrient cycling, and conservation strategies across Mediterranean and tropical coastal systems.
