Gerald Lesley is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU). He earned his education at the University of Waterloo in Canada and held postdoctoral positions at the University of Waterloo and the University of Bristol, UK. Lesley has taught at SCSU since 2000 after a visiting assistant professorship at Moorhead State University.
- Academic Affiliation: Southern Connecticut State University
- Department: Chemistry and Biochemistry
- Teaching Interests: Inorganic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Scientific Writing
Research Interests: Lesley focuses on transition metal catalyzed borylation reactions, with applications in designing ligands for metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), drug development, and novel electronic materials. His work spans organometallic synthesis, catalysis, and materials science, particularly exploring the reactivity of boron compounds with transition metals.
Grants: His research has been funded by multiple CSU-AAUP and SCSU grants, including projects on Tamoxifen derivatives, Suzuki coupling reactions, and boron-based catalysis.
Presentations: Lesley has presented at numerous conferences, including the ACS National Meeting, Asian Crystallographic Association (AsCA), and Canadian Chemical Conference, covering topics like MOF synthesis, nonlinear optics, and catalytic borylation.
Lab Manuals: He co-authored several lab manuals for General Chemistry I (CHE120) and Inorganic Chemistry (CHE436), emphasizing practical applications and modern techniques.
