Georgopoulos Nikolaos

Professor Nikolaos V. Georgopoulos is affiliated with the University of Piraeus, holding roles such as Dean of the Department of Tourism Studies, Deputy Director of the MBA Program, and Professor of Strategic Management and Information Systems. He also serves as Director of the Research Centre & Lifelong Learning Centre and Scientific Head of the University’s Office of Linkage. Previously, he served as Rector, Deputy Chancellor for Economic Planning, and President of the University of Piraeus Research Centre. His academic leadership spans multiple administrative and research roles.

Education: He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Business Administration at the University of Macedonia, followed by an MBA from the University of Birmingham, an MSc in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia.

Research & Teaching: His expertise focuses on Strategic Management, Information Systems, E-Business, Knowledge Management, and Strategic Information Systems. He teaches undergraduate courses on Business Strategy, E-Commerce, and System Design, as well as graduate courses on Strategic Management, Quality Management, and Information Systems. His research has produced numerous international journal articles, conference papers, and authored books on strategic management and information systems.

Advisory Contributions: He has supervised over 200 theses across various graduate programs and five successful Ph.D. candidates, with two currently under his guidance. His work emphasizes bridging academic research with practical business applications.
