معرفی
Dr. Georgiou Georgios is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Cyprus, affiliated with the School of Natural and Applied Sciences. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan (1989) and has over 30 years of research experience in computational rheology, fluid dynamics, numerical analysis, and oceanography. His career includes postdoctoral work at the Université Catholique de Louvain and academic roles at institutions like the University of Crete and the Cyprus University of Technology. He has coordinated over 30 research projects (>€2M funding) and published over 130 peer-reviewed articles.
- Education: PhD (1989), MSc (1987), and Diploma (1985) from University of Michigan and National Technical University of Athens.
Research interests focus on numerical simulations of viscoelastic flows, finite element methods, and computational oceanography. His work includes pioneering the Oceanographic Center at the University of Cyprus (2003) and serving as its Director (2015–2019). Key contributions include advancements in penalized augmented Lagrangian methods for viscoplastic flows and studies on Bingham and Herschel-Bulkley fluids under pressure-dependent conditions.
Publications emphasize fluid dynamics and rheology, with recent work addressing lubrication solutions, non-equilibrium thermodynamics, and flow cessation phenomena. He has authored a textbook on fluid dynamics and edited conference proceedings. Grants and collaborations span European and national initiatives, reflecting his interdisciplinary impact.
