Dr. Georgios Machtsiras is a Lecturer in Sports Biomechanics at the University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the Moray House School of Education and Sport and the Institute for Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences (ISPEHS). He joined the university in 2015 as a Senior Teaching Fellow and has prior experience at Edinburgh Napier University and as a Research Assistant at Edinburgh. His research focuses on biomechanics and hydrodynamics of aquatic locomotion, anthropometry, dance biomechanics, and gait analysis.

- MSc in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics, Manchester Metropolitan University (2005)
- BSc (Hons) in Physical Education and Sport Science, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2004)
Teaching & Supervision: He teaches undergraduate courses in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, and Skill Acquisition, and postgraduate modules in Dance Biomechanics, Research Methods, and Conceptualizing Research. He supervises dissertations in Applied Sports Science, Sports Medicine, Physical Education, and Strength and Conditioning projects and is open to PhD supervision in biomechanics-related areas.
Labs & Research Groups: Affiliated with the Human Performance Science Research Group, focusing on applied sport science and preventative dance medicine.
