Georgios Georgiou

Georgios Georgiou serves as an Assistant Professor of Linguistics and Associate Head of the Department of Languages and Literature at the University of Nicosia's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He is the founder and Director of the Phonetic Lab, focusing on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of linguistics, clinical applications, and computational methods.

His academic credentials include a BA in Greek Philology (2007–2011), MA in Education with distinction (2011–2013), and PhD in Linguistics with distinction (2014–2018), all from the University of Cyprus. He completed postdoctoral research at RUDN University (2018–2020) and Cyprus University of Technology (2021), supported by Cyprus State Scholarship Foundation funding during graduate studies.

Dr. Georgiou's research centers on speech and language acquisition, communication disorders, and machine learning, emphasizing clinical diagnostics and bilingualism. His work integrates acoustic analysis with AI to address developmental and neurological language impairments, reflecting a strong translational approach from theoretical linguistics to healthcare applications.
