Georgina Cooke is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of New South Wales working with Terry Ord. Previously, she completed her PhD at Macquarie University, Sydney in 2011, focusing on the evolutionary origins of Amazonian fish diversity using molecular and ecological approaches.
Research Interests:
Her research integrates molecular genetics, phylogeography, and ecological modeling to understand the evolutionary processes that shape biodiversity. She has worked extensively on:
- Genetic diversity and speciation in Amazonian freshwater fish
- The role of environmental gradients in driving adaptive divergence
- Evolution of terrestriality in amphibious fish using Blenny genera as models
