معرفی
Georgia Gotsi is a Full Professor of Modern Greek and Comparative Literature at the Department of Philology, University of Patras, where she has taught since 2004 and served as Associate Chair (2018-2020). An internationally recognized scholar, she holds fellowships from Harvard University's Center for Hellenic Studies (2010-2011), New York University (2011-2012), University of Cambridge (2023), and will be Princeton University's Seeger Center Fellow in 2025.
Her educational background includes a BA in Classical Literature from the University of Athens (1989), MA in Comparative Literature from UNC Chapel Hill (1992), and PhD in Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies from King's College London (1996). Prior to returning to Greece, she taught at Brown University as a Visiting Assistant Professor (1996-2004).
Gotsi's research spans Modern Greek and Comparative Literature with emphases on cultural metaphors, urban representations in literature, Jewish-Greek literary interactions, material antiquity in modern contexts, and translation studies. Her work bridges 19th-21st century European literary traditions with particular focus on Greek-British cultural networks and reception phenomena.
Her recent publications reveal a trajectory examining cultural mediation through diverse lenses: from dervish representations in Greek prose to Victorian biographers of Rigas Feraios, demonstrating consistent engagement with cross-cultural transfer mechanisms and memory studies. The scholarship shows increasing methodological sophistication in tracing intellectual networks across Mediterranean and European contexts.
