Georgia Destouni is a Professor of Hydrology at the Department of Physical Geography, Stockholm University, and holds an additional Guest Professor position at the Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering (SEED), KTH Royal Institute of Technology. She leads the interdisciplinary SATORI Research Lab (2024–) under the Stockholm Trio University Alliance and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Water Resources Research (AGU, 2021–).

Research focuses on integrated freshwater systems, examining global/regional water flows, storages, quality, and their interactions with climate, ecosystems, and society. Geographic areas include Baltic, Arctic, Central/East Asia, Balkans, Mediterranean, and Africa. Methodologies span theoretical analysis, data-driven approaches, and modeling of hydro-climatic linkages.
