Dr Georgia Cook is a Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Applied Health Research (OxInAHR), Oxford Brookes University. She holds qualifications including a PhD, Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (PCTHE). Her research focuses on sleep-related challenges across populations, emphasizing applied health outcomes. Georgia has extensive mixed-methods research experience, including randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams. She leads or co-leads grants on topics like sleep in school-aged children, post-ICU fatigue interventions, and pandemic-era nursing practices.
Georgia teaches on modules such as Qualitative Methods in Psychology and supervises Master’s and doctoral students. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research groups include Children and Young People Network, Maternity, Children and Families, and Developmental Psychology. Recent projects include the CASTLE study on sleep interventions for children with epilepsy and evaluations of school nursing practices during the pandemic.
Her publications span sleep interventions, healthcare professional roles in epilepsy care, and pandemic adaptations in school nursing. Georgia prioritizes patient and public involvement (PPIE) in her work, aiming to bridge clinical research and practical healthcare solutions.
