George Stewart is a Research Professor in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. His work focuses on photonics, fiber optics, and laser spectroscopy, particularly in sensor applications. He has taught undergraduate courses in electronics and supervised numerous photonics projects, while also contributing to academic governance as deputy chair of the departmental courses and teaching committee.
His research spans fiber optic components, photoacoustic spectroscopy, and gas sensing technologies. Recent projects include applications of tunable diode laser spectroscopy and intracavity absorption spectroscopy for trace gas detection.
