معرفی
George Schatz is the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor of Chemistry and (by courtesy) Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern University. He holds a BS from Clarkson University and PhD from California Institute of Technology. His research spans theoretical chemistry, nanoscience, plasmonics, excitonics, self-assembly, and catalysis.
Schatz's research focuses on developing theoretical methods to understand nanoscale phenomena, plasmon-driven chemical reactions, and quantum dynamics. His work combines computational modeling with experimental collaborations to study light-matter interactions at atomic scales.
His recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate strong emphasis on plasmon-enhanced chemistry, computational methods development, sustainable energy applications, and quantum phenomena. Research trends include advanced spectroscopy techniques, nanocatalysis, environmental applications, and quantum plasmonics.
Scientific Honors:
- Member of National Academy of Sciences
- Fellow of American Academy of Arts & Sciences
- Max Planck Research Award
- Bourke Medal (Royal Society of Chemistry)
- American Physical Society Fellow
- Alfred P. Sloan Fellow
Schatz leads a large research group investigating plasmon dynamics and nanoscale energy transfer. His work has been supported by major grants including NSF and DOE funding.
