George Salijeni is a Lecturer in Accounting at Aston Business School, part of Aston University's College of Business and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD in Big Data Analytics and the Social Relevance of Auditing from the University of Manchester (2018) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, 2019). His research focuses on auditing innovations, governance technologies, and the sociomaterial impacts of big data in accounting. He has presented at global conferences like AAA and BAFA, and delivered a TEDx talk on societal change through accounting (2018).
He serves as an External Examiner at Sheffield Hallam University and has contributed to media discussions on auditing technology, including a 2020 response to the FRC's thematic review on technology in audits. His work explores how digitalisation and big data reshape auditing practices, with recent publications addressing small audit firms' digital transformation and sociomaterial reconfiguration of audits.
Key awards include FHEA recognition for teaching excellence. His research outputs span 17 works, emphasizing digitalisation's implications for audit quality, technology adoption, and organizational adaptation. He actively engages with professional bodies and policy discussions on audit modernization.
