Dr. Azizah Abu Bakar is a Teaching Fellow in Accounting and Finance at Aston Business School, Aston University. She holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow (2018) and an MSc in Finance from the University of Strathclyde (2006). Her research focuses on capital markets, particularly investors' psychology and big data applications in accounting and finance. She is a chartered accountant and holds fellowships from UK Higher Education and ACCA.
Her notable research includes exploring the Monday Effect through mood analysis, published in the Journal of Forecasting (2014). She teaches auditing and management accounting, with extensive experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
Key research areas include behavioral finance, market anomalies, and the psychological drivers of investment decisions. Her work integrates interdisciplinary approaches, blending finance, psychology, and data science.
