Dr. George Pantelopoulos is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Newcastle's Newcastle Business School (College of Human and Social Futures). He completed his Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Accounting in 2018 and earned his PhD from the University of Newcastle in 2022. His research investigates monetary economics, international economics, and payment systems, with work published in top journals including Review of International Economics and World Economy, and collaborations with the European Central Bank.
His research spans three core areas: Financial Economics (50%), Macroeconomics (20%), and International Economics (30%). Key focuses include central banking operations, monetary policy frameworks, cross-border payments, and critiques of orthodox economic theory. He is currently co-authoring a textbook titled Introduction to Payments and Financial Market Infrastructures.
