George N. Rouskas is a Professor and the Interim Department Head in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University. He also serves as Director for Faculty Advancement and leads the Optical Networks and Systems Laboratory.

Rouskas specializes in high-performance networking, optical networks, and network design optimization. His work focuses on routing and spectrum allocation algorithms, network virtualization, and scalable solutions for internet infrastructure.
Recent publications highlight advancements in symmetry-free spectrum allocation, parallel implementations for optical networks, and network design decomposition techniques. Key themes include resource management, algorithm design, and computational efficiency.
