George N. Malandrakis

George N. Malandrakis is an Associate Professor in Environmental Education at the Department of Primary Education, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds a PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Crete (2004), and has served in academic roles since 2006, including Lecturer and Assistant Professor positions at the University of Western Macedonia. His research focuses on environmental education for sustainability, student perceptions of ecological issues, and curriculum development. He has supervised numerous theses and contributed to funded research projects on sustainability education and urban environmental challenges. Malandrakis actively participates in administrative roles, such as leading the Department of Primary Education’s Science and Technology Division and serving on sustainability committees. His work emphasizes integrating environmental ethics and systemic thinking into education, with publications in journals like Environmental Education Research and Sustainability.

Research interests include: student conceptual understanding of environmental issues (e.g., climate change, ecological footprint), development of educational tools, and sustainability education in urban contexts. Grants: Coordinated projects like 'Promoting Sustainable Living through Education for Ecological Footprint' (2019–2022) and participated in EU initiatives such as Erasmus+ programs. He leads efforts to enhance university sustainability practices and teacher training in environmental education.
