Dr. George Kamenov is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida. He manages the ICP-MS laboratory and specializes in isotope geochemistry. His work focuses on ore-deposit formation, submarine hydrothermal processes, environmental and human sample analysis, and ICP-MS techniques.
Education: Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Florida (2004).
Research interests include applying isotopes to study heavy metal exposure, environmental pollution, and ancient human diets. He has conducted studies on Roman artifacts, Maya civilizations, and Viking trade networks, using isotopic analysis to trace material origins and human mobility.
Recent articles highlight his work on lead contamination in wildlife, ancient bison herds, and lead sources in drinking water. His studies often bridge archaeology and geochemistry, offering insights into historical and environmental contexts.
Laboratory leadership: Dr. Kamenov oversees the ICP-MS facility, advancing analytical techniques for geological and archaeological research.
