George Acquaah-Mensah is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS). He earned his PhD in Pharmacology/Toxicology from the University of Texas at Austin and completed a fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. His research focuses on computational pharmacology, bio-ontologies, and machine learning, particularly their applications in understanding how genetic or chemical perturbations affect transcriptional regulatory networks in diseases such as oncology, lung disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and addiction.
He is affiliated with the School of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at MCPHS. Dr. Acquaah-Mensah is an active member of the Society of Toxicology and the International Society for Computational Biology. He also served as the founding President of the Convention for Bio-Medical Research in Ghana, contributing to the advancement of biomedical research in the region.
His work integrates computational biology approaches to explore disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic interventions. He advises students in the accelerated Pharmacy (PharmD) program, fostering interdisciplinary education and research. Dr. Acquaah-Mensah's professional activities include participation in scientific societies, where he engages in mentorship, collaborative research, and dissemination of knowledge in toxicology and pharmacology.
