Georg von Freymann

Prof. Dr. Georg von Freymann leads the research group Optische Technologien und Photonik at the Department of Physics, Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). His work bridges fundamental research and applications, focusing on photonics, topological materials, and tailored disorder in structured systems. He collaborates with the Fraunhofer ITWM, Landesforschungszentrum OPTIMAS, and participates in research initiatives like LASE and LPME.

• Developing 3D laser micro-printing technologies and photonic systems
• Exploring THz technology for industrial applications (e.g., automotive layer thickness measurement)
• Investigating spin wave optics and magnonic crystals via light-induced magnetic landscapes
• Studying Anderson localization of light in aperiodic structures

His group, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), has contributed to spin-offs like Nanoscribe GmbH and Opti-Cal GmbH. He teaches courses and seminars while mentoring students in interdisciplinary research topics.
