Georg Engelhard is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of East Anglia's School of Environmental Sciences and a Senior Scientist at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas). His research focuses on marine science, including long-term fish population dynamics, climate change impacts, fisheries policy, and historical ecology. He co-chairs ICES' Working Group on Fishery History and contributes to the Oceans Past Initiative. His work integrates historical data into modern policy contexts, addressing issues such as coral reef resilience, aquaculture risks, and socio-economic scenarios for aquatic resources.
Engelhard holds an MSc involving studies on tropical butterflies and a snail subspecies, and a PhD on sub-Antarctic elephant seals. He advises PhD/MSc students and collaborates globally on marine conservation and climate policy. His research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing environmental protection and sustainable resource use.
