Geoffrey Hill

Honorary Professor Geoffrey Hill is a leading researcher at The University of Queensland, affiliated with the Frazer Institute and QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. He serves as Coordinator of the Cancer Programme at QIMR Berghofer, Head of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Laboratory, and Director of Research at Cancer Care Services in the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. A NHMRC Australia and QLD Health Senior Clinical Research Fellow, Hill is a dual fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. His academic journey began at the University of Auckland, where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Masters (Coursework) in Medicine and Surgery, and a Doctoral Diploma of Medicine.

Awards & Honors: Recipient of the 2005 Queenslander of the Year, 2009 Ian McKenzie Award, and 2014 Translational Research Institute National Prize. His Queensland Health Senior Clinical Research Fellowship (2010) supported clinical translation of cytokine therapies.

Supervision: Active principal/associate advisor for 25+ PhD students, including research on myeloma-immune equilibrium, IL-6 signaling in GVHD, and autophagy in stem cell mobilization. Leads the Bone Marrow Transplantation Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer.
