Geoffrey Fisher is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University, affiliated with the SC Johnson College of Business's Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. He holds a PhD from the California Institute of Technology (2015) and a BA from Cornell University (2010). His research focuses on marketing and neuroeconomics, specifically exploring how individuals make multi-attribute choices by analyzing attention allocation through eye-tracking and cognitive modeling. Notable contributions include studies on visual saliency's impact on search behavior and the role of attention in decision-making processes.
His academic awards include the FFAR New Innovator Award (2016). Recent course offerings include AEM 4140 (Behavioral Economics and Managerial Decisions) and AEM 4410 (Marketing Research). His work spans interdisciplinary areas such as behavioral economics, consumer psychology, and neuroscience, with publications in top journals like Management Science, Psychological Science, and Cognition.
Research interests include decision-making processes, attention allocation mechanisms, and the application of eye-tracking and cursor trajectory data to understand consumer behavior. He explores how visual attention influences choices across domains like food valuation, charitable giving, and branded product conflicts.
Geoffrey Fisher's work bridges cognitive science and economics, with a focus on developing quantitative models that predict choice behavior, decision times, and attentional deployment. His studies often involve experimental setups combining behavioral data with neuroscientific methods to uncover underlying cognitive processes in real-world decision contexts.
