Geoffrey Carr

Geoffrey Carr is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia and dual B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Wyoming. His research focuses on macroeconomic labor dynamics during business cycles.

Professor Carr's research examines unemployment insurance systems, productivity shocks, and labor market dynamics during economic fluctuations. His dissertation developed models of labor market aggregation and insurance mechanisms during business cycles.

He is currently developing research on unemployment insurance responses during the COVID-19 pandemic and the relationship between productivity shocks and labor market outcomes.

Professor Carr received the Dean's Dissertation Completion Fellowship from the University of Virginia (2019-2020) for his doctoral research. He teaches principles of microeconomics and intermediate microeconomics, employing innovative pedagogical approaches to economic theory.
