Geoffrey Baym is a Professor in the Department of Media Studies and Production at Temple University's Lew Klein College of Media and Communication, where he also serves as Program Director for Media and Communication. He holds a PhD in Communication from the University of Utah and previously worked as a television news producer. His research examines evolving forms of broadcast journalism, political discourse, and the merging of news with entertainment and popular culture.
Baym's scholarly focus spans:
- Political-entertainment hybrids: Analysis of satire, infotainment, and their impact on public discourse.
- Media transformation: Shifting journalistic standards in digital and broadcast environments.
- Discourse analysis: Critical studies of conservative media, presidential representation, and polarization.
