Geoffrey Bateman is a Professor in the Department of Peace and Justice Studies at Regis College. He teaches courses spanning social justice topics including sexual citizenship, queer vocations, nonviolent resistance, gender and homelessness, queer justice, and community-based research. Bateman serves as faculty advisor for the Queer Student Alliance and chairs the Queer Resource Alliance.
His research focuses on queer nonviolence, examining U.S. LGBTQIA+ movements through philosophical and activist lenses. Additional scholarly interests include vocation studies, queer theory, and the history of sexuality in the American West. He is currently writing a book on queer nonviolence and edits Vocation Matters, the blog of the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education.
Bateman's publications include the book Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell: Debating the Gay Ban in the Military and essays such as 'Queer Vocation and the Uncommon Good' and 'Queer Callings: LGBTQ Literature and Vocation'.
