Geneviève Derumeaux is a Professor in Cardiology and Physiology at the Faculty of Health, Université Paris-Est Créteil. She directs the "Senescence, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases" team at the Mondor Institute of Biomedical Research (IMRB U955 Inserm) and leads the Physiology Department at Henri Mondor University Hospital Center (APHP).

Her research focuses on cellular senescence mechanisms in chronic lung and cardiovascular diseases, particularly examining telomere biology and its role in pulmonary hypertension (PH) and COPD. The team has pioneered the concept of accelerated aging in chronic lung diseases and developed novel therapeutic strategies targeting senescence pathways.
Recent publications highlight her work on telomere dysfunction (2009-2016), CCR5 as a treatment target (2014), and p53/Nutlin-3a interventions (2013) for pulmonary hypertension. These studies span molecular mechanisms, translational applications, and clinical epidemiology.
- 2016 - Silver Medal, European Society of Cardiology
- 2017 - Laennec Lecture Recipient, ESC
- 2018 - Honorary Membership, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging
Her team holds four patents for senescence-targeted therapies and leads the EUR-LIVE initiative on life trajectories and vulnerability. Collaborations with cardiology researchers (Damy, 2010; Derumeaux, 2013) have expanded her work into cardiac senescence research.
