Geneva Shaw is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at Cal Poly Humboldt. As a federally recognized member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, she has dedicated her career to social work in Tribal communities of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Her work spans administrative roles, direct practice, and technical assistance provision. She holds an MSW from Humboldt (2008) and is of Karuk, Yurok, and Apache descent.
Her research and professional focus centers on social work in Indigenous and rural contexts, emphasizing culturally responsive services and community-driven solutions. She teaches MSW courses and contributes to the university’s mission in behavioral and social sciences.
