Geert Roskam is a Professor at KU Leuven's Faculty of Arts, where he chairs the Literary and Cultural Studies Research Unit across Leuven, Kulak Kortrijk, Brussels, and Antwerp campuses. He is an active member of LECTIO (Institute for the Study of Text Transmission) and LILI (Interdisciplinary Language Institute), reflecting his cross-campus academic leadership.
His research explores ancient philosophical traditions, with emphasis on:
- Plutarchan studies (biography, ethics, theology)
- Hellenistic philosophy (Stoicism, Epicureanism)
- Greek literary interpretation (epic, drama, rhetoric)
- Textual reception across antiquity and early Christianity
His 2024 publications demonstrate consistent focus on re-examining Epicurean ethics, Plutarch's biographical methods, and Stoic-Epicurean comparative analyses. Works frequently engage with themes of moral philosophy, divine justice, and philosophical resilience.
Currently, he leads multiple projects including studies on the Delay of the Parousia, Aristotle's Peri Philosophias, and interpersonal violence in Lucian's works. He teaches courses on Greek drama, philosophical literature, and textual interpretation.
