Dr. Gbenga Adamolekun is a Lecturer in Finance at the Business School of Edinburgh Napier University, where he has been serving since August 2021. Previously, he held a similar academic position at Coventry University. He holds a PhD in Finance from Heriot-Watt University and a Master’s degree in Investment and Finance with distinction from Bournemouth University.

His research lies at the intersection of corporate environmental practices and financial outcomes, with a focus on corporate climate risk, carbon emissions, CEO behavior, and sustainability. He investigates how environmental regulations, such as emission trading schemes, impact firm risk and valuation, and evaluates the role of governance and leadership in corporate decarbonisation. His work spans topics in environmental finance, risk management, and tourism economics.
His recent publications analyze the impact of carbon pricing, CEO hubris, and gender diversity on emissions; the market valuation of green restructuring; cash holding dynamics under competitive pressure; and sentiment effects on international travel. These studies employ large international datasets and advanced econometric techniques, contributing significantly to the literature on sustainable finance and corporate behavior.
Dr. Adamolekun has published in leading journals such as Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Environmental Management, International Review of Financial Analysis, and Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, as well as contributed book chapters on socially responsible investment and financial risk.
He has advised on or conducted research funded by Edinburgh Napier University, presenting findings at international conferences including the Paris Financial Management Conference and the INFINITI Conference.
