Gary Woods is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. He holds a B.A. in Physics and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rice (1988), followed by M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University. He has been teaching Senior Design courses since 2009, leading teams that won top prizes at the OEDK Design Showcase in 2010, 2014, 2015, and 2017. In 2016, he received the George R. Brown Award for Superior Teaching, Rice’s highest honor for educators.
- Research focuses on optical probing of integrated circuits and low-cost medical devices for neonatal care in developing nations.
- Founded the annual 'Moscars' video competition (ELEC 305) to engage students in explaining complex engineering concepts.
