Gary Whittaker is the James Law Professor of Virology at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, holding dual appointments in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Department of Public and Ecosystem Health. He serves as Director of Graduate Studies for the Graduate Field of Public Health and Planetary Health, directing academic programs at the intersection of veterinary and human health.
His educational foundation includes a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Leeds (UK, 1991), followed by postdoctoral influenza research at Yale Medical School before joining Cornell in 1996.
