Professor Gary Rogers is a distinguished academic leader and clinician, serving as Professor and Dean of Medicine at Deakin University’s Faculty of Health since June 2020. He previously held the position of Professor of Medical Education and Deputy Head of School (Learning & Teaching) at Griffith University, where he continues to hold an adjunct professorship. His career spans clinical practice in HIV medicine, public health research, and transformative work in health professions education.

Professor Rogers’ research is centered on affective learning—the development of professional and interprofessional values among health students—and on strategies to widen access to health professional education. He has led significant initiatives in primary healthcare for sexuality-diverse youth and farmer health.
His recent publications reflect a consistent focus on innovative educational models, particularly longitudinal integrated clerkships, gamified simulations in pharmacy and dietetics, and the impact of affective learning on professional identity.
