Gary Joiner is Professor and Chair of History & Social Sciences at LSU Shreveport, holding the Mary Anne and Leonard Selber Professorship. His research spans Civil War history, regional studies, and historic preservation, with 37 authored/edited books including award-winning works on the Red River Campaign.
Major Awards:
- Albert Castel Award and A.M. Pate, Jr. Award for Civil War scholarship
- Louisiana Preservationist of the Year (2010)
- International Biographical Centre's '2000 Outstanding Academics'
Joiner directs the Strategy Alternatives Consortium and Red River Regional Studies Center. He frequently consults for media networks including History Channel, CNN, and PBS on historical documentaries.
