معرفی
Dr. Gary D Luker serves as Reed Dunnick Research Professor of Radiology and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan Medical School, where he also holds the position of Associate Chair for Radiology Clinical Research. As a Center Member of the Rogel Cancer Center, his work bridges cancer biology and molecular imaging to investigate tumor-stromal interactions driving metastasis and therapy resistance.
His educational background includes:
- MD from Washington University School of Medicine (1991)
- Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Washington University (1995)
- Pediatric Radiology Fellowship at Mallinckrodt Institute (1996)
- Research Fellowship in Molecular Radiopharmacology at Washington University (2002)
Dr. Luker's research employs multi-scale imaging techniques to dissect tumor heterogeneity and predict therapy responses across biological scales. His lab focuses on critical areas including:
- Mechanisms of tumor-stromal crosstalk in metastasis
- Immunosuppressive microenvironment in breast cancer
- Non-invasive imaging biomarkers for PD-L1 expression
- Targeting cancer-associated fibroblasts in gastrointestinal cancers
- Development of novel radiotracers for clinical translation
His 2025 publications reveal strong momentum in immunotherapy enhancement and stromal targeting, with significant work on CXCR4 inhibition and PD-L1 imaging. The lab maintains active clinical-translational pipelines through University of Michigan resources and cancer center affiliations.
Professional recognition includes:
- Endowed Reed Dunnick Research Professorship
- Editorship of Radiology: Imaging Cancer
- Leadership in developing trainee editorial programs
Dr. Luker actively mentors through the 'Available to mentor' designation and his Trainee Editorial Board initiatives. His lab provides interdisciplinary training at the cancer imaging interface, with opportunities spanning basic science, translational research, and clinical application development. The multi-institutional co-authorship patterns in recent publications indicate robust collaborative networks supporting trainee development.
The Luker Lab operates within the University of Michigan's Biomedical Science Research Building (BSRB A710), leveraging institutional imaging core facilities and cancer center resources for its tumor microenvironment research programs.
