His research focuses on the dynamics of stability and change in large-scale systems, environmental sociology, and complex adaptive systems theory. He has authored numerous publications in environmental policy, science studies, visual sociology, and disaster sociology.

He has collaborated on edited volumes like The Chicago School Diaspora (2014) and contributed to interdisciplinary discussions on media ecology and disaster sociology. His teaching and supervision areas include environmental sociology, science and technology studies, and complex adaptive systems theory.
