Professor Gary Adamson is a Professor of Psychology at Ulster University, based at the Coleraine campus. He is affiliated with the School of Psychology and the Faculty of Life & Health Sciences. With over 20 years of experience, he specializes in teaching research methods and statistics. His research focuses on applying latent variable models to mental health and wellbeing, particularly through longitudinal studies. He has received ESRC funding since 2010 to deliver latent variable modelling courses across multiple institutions.
Professor Adamson has held editorial roles, including editor of the Journal of Criminal Psychology and statistical software reviews editor for the British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. Recent research includes studies on stroke survivor rehabilitation, socio-economic health disparities in adolescents, and healthcare utilization among older adults.
