Garrett Melenka is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering department at York University. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2016 and joined York University in 2017. His work focuses on advanced composite structures, including tubular braided composites and additive manufactured systems.
- Research Interests: Braided Composites, Composite Materials, Mechanical Testing, Optical Strain Measurement, Digital Image Correlation (3D DIC), Micro-computed Tomography (µCT), Additive Manufacturing, Orthodontics.
- Facilities: LaVision StrainMaster 3D DIC System, Bruker SkyScan 1272 Micro-CT, Prusa i3 MK2S, Monoprice Select Mini 3D Printer.
- Collaborations: Industry and academic partners in additive manufacturing and composite material development.
- Publications: 39 peer-reviewed works focusing on composite modeling, mechanical analysis, and DIC/µCT applications.
